Dennison Doubles Down With ALD Dual Time “Shades”
Dennison is back at it, and this time it is refining rather than reinventing. The ALD Dual Time returns with a cleaner, more resolved look, bringing added structure to one of last year’s most talked about design led releases.
At its core, the formula remains unchanged. Two independent time zones, each with its own handset and crown, sit side by side on a compact rectangular case. It is an unapologetically retro concept, lifted straight from the jet set playbook of the 1970s, and one that continues to feel refreshingly different in a market dominated by GMT hands and rotating bezels.
What has changed is the execution.
The latest models introduce applied indexes, a small but meaningful upgrade that brings a touch more legibility and a lot more visual balance. The original stone dial variants leaned heavily into texture and colour, sometimes at the expense of clarity. These new versions rein things in, giving the eye clearer reference points without losing that signature Dennison flair.
Then there is the bracelet. The new pebble link option shifts the watch firmly into jewellery adjacent territory, leaning into the same design language that inspired the original concept. It is fluid, slightly flashy, and entirely in keeping with the watch’s 1970s roots. In short, it makes sense.
Under the hood, nothing changes, and that is no bad thing. The dual quartz setup keeps the case impressively slim and the functionality straightforward, with each time zone independently adjustable via its own crown. It is simple, practical, and crucially, it keeps the price accessible.
This is still a watch driven by design first thinking. Emmanuel Gueit’s influence remains front and centre, with clear nods to the era when stone dials, bold shapes and travel inspired complications ruled the wrist.
The result is not a radical departure, but a confident evolution. The ALD Dual Time always stood out for doing something different. Now, it just does it better. And in a space where most brands are chasing the same ideas, that alone is worth paying attention to.
