Geneva Watch Days: Bulgari x Vianney Halter: The Octo Finissimo Gets a Wild New Dual-Time Twist
Bulgari’s Octo Finissimo has become one of the defining names in modern ultra-thin watchmaking, but even the famously sleek and architectural collection has its limits. For Geneva Watch Days 2026, Bulgari has decided to push those boundaries in a rather unexpected direction, joining forces with one of independent watchmaking’s most distinctive names: Vianney Halter.
The result is the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Dual Time x Vianney Halter, and it is unlike any Octo Finissimo we’ve seen before. Combining Bulgari’s razor-sharp case architecture with Halter’s unmistakable retro-futuristic aesthetic, the new model feels like two very different schools of watchmaking have collided — and somehow, it works.
Halter’s influence is immediately obvious. The watch features four separate dial openings, porthole-like bezels, blue hands and an almost mechanical-instrument appearance that recalls his legendary Antiqua from the late 1990s. However, rather than simply recreating the Antiqua inside an Octo case, Bulgari and Halter have created something that feels like a genuine meeting of their respective design languages.
When Octo Finissimo Meets Vianney Halter
The appeal of this collaboration comes from the contrast between the two brands. Bulgari’s Octo Finissimo is all about precision, geometry and extreme thinness, with its multi-layered octagonal case becoming one of the most recognisable silhouettes in contemporary watchmaking.
Vianney Halter’s watches take almost the opposite approach. His creations are deliberately complex, theatrical and industrial, often looking more like miniature machines than traditional watches. The Antiqua, in particular, became an icon of the early independent watchmaking movement thanks to its unusual collection of circular displays, blue hands and futuristic interpretation of Victorian-era machinery.
Those ideas have now been transplanted into the Octo Finissimo universe.
The angular geometry of the Bulgari case provides the foundation, while Halter’s influence appears through the four raised, circular displays that sit across the dial. The contrast between the sharp, architectural case and rounded indicators is what makes the watch so visually interesting.
It is unmistakably an Octo Finissimo, but it has also been given a personality that is completely unlike the restrained elegance normally associated with the collection.
Four Displays, Plenty Going On
The dial is divided into four individual displays, each performing a different role.
The two largest counters are responsible for the primary time display, showing the hours and minutes, while a second display provides the second time zone. Running seconds are displayed alongside the GMT indication, while the remaining apertures provide the date and a day/night indication.
The displays themselves are finished in opaline rhodium-plating, with a combination of sandblasted and satin-brushed surfaces adding further depth. Small inscriptions identifying the GMT and date displays reinforce the watch’s instrument-like personality.
Then there are the hands.
The blue, sculptural hands are instantly recognisable as a Vianney Halter design, while a shorter blue GMT hand provides the second time-zone indication. A red, arrow-tipped hand handles the running seconds, adding a welcome splash of colour to an otherwise monochromatic dial.
The date display is particularly unusual, with the date disc framed by a pair of visible screws. It is another small detail that makes the watch feel more like a piece of precision machinery than a conventional luxury timepiece.
An Ultra-Thin Movement With Plenty of Complications
Behind all of this is a new movement developed specifically for the collaboration.
The BVF 200 is an in-house automatic calibre based on Bulgari’s existing BVL 138 micro-rotor movement. Despite incorporating local time, a second time zone, running seconds, date and day/night indication, the movement measures just 5.49mm thick.
It beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers approximately 60 hours of power reserve. Decoration includes vertical Côtes de Genève, brushing and perlage, while the platinum micro-rotor carries Vianney Halter’s signature.
On the rose gold model, the micro-rotor is finished in matching rose gold.
Considering everything happening on the dial, maintaining the Octo Finissimo’s ultra-thin philosophy is arguably the most impressive part of the watch.
Two Very Limited Versions
Bulgari is offering the Octo Finissimo Dual Time x Vianney Halter in two executions, both of which are extremely limited.
The first is the version that feels most closely connected to the traditional Octo Finissimo formula. It features a 40.5mm sandblasted titanium case paired with an integrated titanium bracelet. The industrial finish works particularly well with Halter’s futuristic aesthetic and gives the watch a distinctly technical appearance.
Only 30 examples of the titanium version will be produced.
The second option is considerably more luxurious. The rose gold edition retains the 40.5mm case diameter but combines a sandblasted case base with a circular-brushed upper section and satin-polished bezel details. Rather than the integrated bracelet, it comes fitted to a brown alligator leather strap with a rose gold pin buckle.
This version is even rarer, with just 15 pieces being produced.
Both watches measure 9.7mm thick, although Bulgari states that the case itself measures just 7.7mm from the caseback to the highest point of the bezel. Given the number of layers and functions incorporated into the design, that remains seriously impressive.
The crown features a black ceramic insert, while two rectangular pushers positioned on the left side of the case control the date and GMT functions. A sapphire crystal caseback provides a view of the BVF 200 movement.
Water resistance is rated at 30 metres.

Winding Things Up
The Octo Finissimo has always been about demonstrating just how much watchmaking can be squeezed into an incredibly thin package, but the collaboration with Vianney Halter takes that philosophy somewhere completely unexpected.
Rather than simply making another ultra-thin luxury sports watch, Bulgari has allowed Halter’s wonderfully eccentric design language to take centre stage. The result is a watch that combines the Octo’s unmistakable geometry with the mechanical, almost steampunk personality of the Antiqua.
It certainly won’t appeal to everyone, and at CHF 70,000 for the titanium version and CHF 108,000 for rose gold, it sits firmly in collector territory. But with only 45 watches being produced across both versions, this was never intended to be an everyday Octo Finissimo.
For Bulgari, it is an opportunity to demonstrate just how far the Octo platform can be pushed. For Vianney Halter, it is a chance to bring some of his most recognisable design signatures into one of the modern watch industry’s most technically accomplished collections.
And for collectors, it is one of the strangest — and arguably most fascinating — Octo Finissimos yet.
