Giuliano Mazzuoli Manometro: The Watch That Shouldn’t Work… But Does

Some watches try to stand out. Others just quietly get on with it.

The Giuliano Mazzuoli Manometro Ivory does neither. It looks like it’s been ripped straight off a piece of industrial equipment, shrunk slightly, and strapped to your wrist with absolutely no concern for what anyone else is doing.

And that’s exactly why it works.

Born From a Pressure Gauge (Literally)

This isn’t “inspired by vintage instruments” in the vague, marketing sense. The Manometro is actually based on a pressure gauge. That is the entire idea.

The result is a watch that feels more like a tool than jewellery. A perfectly round, cylindrical case. No traditional lugs. A huge crown sitting awkwardly at 2 o’clock like it’s daring you to question it.

It’s unconventional, slightly odd, and completely intentional.

The Dial: Brutally Simple, Brilliantly Executed

The ivory dial is where everything clicks.

It is about as stripped back as a watch dial can be:

  • Clear Arabic numerals

  • Clean minute track

  • Straightforward handset

  • A subtle pop of red on the seconds

Nothing decorative for the sake of it. No texture, no layering, no trying too hard. Just pure legibility.

And yet, it has real presence. The ivory tone softens what could otherwise feel overly industrial, giving it a slightly warmer, more wearable edge.

It’s the kind of dial you don’t think much about at first… until you realise you’ve been staring at it longer than expected.

The Case: Big, Bold, and a Bit Ridiculous

Let’s not pretend otherwise. At around 45mm wide and nearly 15mm thick, this is not a subtle watch.

But here’s the thing. It doesn’t wear like a typical 45mm watch.

The lugless design means the strap is integrated directly into the case, pulling it down onto the wrist rather than letting it sprawl out. It still has presence, but it feels more contained, more deliberate.

The oversized crown, knurled and prominent, is part design feature, part usability win. It’s easy to grip, satisfying to use, and adds to that whole “instrument on the wrist” feel.

No Lugs, No Nonsense

One of the most distinctive elements is how the strap attaches.

There are no lugs. None. Instead, a thick Tuscan leather strap is screwed directly into the case. It’s a small detail, but it completely changes the silhouette and reinforces the industrial aesthetic. It also makes the whole watch feel like a single, cohesive object rather than a collection of parts.

Under the Hood

Inside, things are reassuringly straightforward. A Swiss automatic movement, typically based on the ETA 2824, does the work. It’s not exotic, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s reliable, easy to service, and entirely in keeping with the watch’s no nonsense philosophy.

This is not a watch trying to impress you with technical fireworks. It’s trying to work properly. And it does.

So Who Is This For?

Let’s be honest. This is not a mass appeal watch.

If you want:

  • Slim elegance

  • Under the radar versatility

  • Something that disappears on the wrist

This is not it.

But if you want something:

  • Genuinely different

  • Rooted in design rather than tradition

  • That feels like an object, not just a watch

Then this starts to make a lot of sense.

Winding Things Up

The Manometro Ivory is one of those rare watches that feels completely uninterested in trends.

It is big, slightly strange, and unapologetically niche. But it is also honest, functional, and refreshingly free of unnecessary embellishment.

In a world full of watches trying to be everything at once, this one has made a very clear decision. It’s a pressure gauge on a strap. And somehow, that’s more than enough.
