History and Heritage
The Trematic project was launched in 2022 with a mission to revive a storied name from the golden era of watchmaking. Originally based in Geneva, the Maison gained recognition in the 1950s and ’60s for crafting exceptional timepieces featuring moon phases, triple calendars, and other remarkable complications. Trematic also took part in prestigious co-branding collaborations with leading names in both the jewellery and horology sectors. Like many Swiss watchmakers, however, the brand fell victim to the quartz crisis of the 1980s and ceased operations — until now.
Most vintage Trematic models were equipped with Felsa automatic movements. Founded in Grenchen, Switzerland, in 1918, Felsa became part of Ebauches SA in 1928 and is now a brand within the Swatch Group. Felsa was among the first manufacturers—following the expiration of Rolex’s patent—to introduce automatic calibres with a bidirectional winding rotor, a groundbreaking innovation at the time that has since become standard in automatic watchmaking worldwide.
