Tudor Goes Full Throttle With the New Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 26”

Tudor has doubled down on its motorsport obsession with the release of the new Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 26”, a lightweight, aggressive chronograph that continues the brand’s growing relationship with Formula One inspired design. Following the success of last year’s Carbon 25 edition, this latest release refines the formula rather than reinventing it, delivering a sharper, more technical take on the Black Bay Chrono platform.

Reference M79377KN 0003 arrives in a full carbon fibre case measuring 42mm across, paired with black PVD titanium pushers and crown components. The result is a watch that looks substantial on the wrist but wears significantly lighter than its steel counterparts. Tudor has even extended the carbon construction to elements such as the tachymeter bezel and end links, reinforcing the racing focused identity of the piece.

Visually, this is one of the boldest Black Bay Chronographs to date. The white opaline dial is contrasted by black carbon fibre subdials and bright yellow accents inspired by contemporary Formula One liveries. It feels energetic without crossing into novelty territory, retaining enough of the familiar Black Bay DNA to still feel unmistakably Tudor. The domed sapphire crystal and signature snowflake hands help anchor the watch within the wider collection, even if the overall execution is far more modern and experimental.

Inside sits the COSC certified Manufacture Calibre MT5813, based on the Breitling B01 architecture. The movement features a column wheel chronograph mechanism, silicon balance spring and a healthy 70 hour power reserve. It remains one of the strongest chronograph movements anywhere near this price point and continues to be a major selling point for the Black Bay Chrono line as a whole.

Like its predecessor, the Carbon 26 is a numbered limited edition, this time capped at 2,026 pieces worldwide. Each watch features an individually numbered titanium caseback, further cementing its collector appeal. Availability is expected to be tight given the strong reception to the earlier Carbon 25 release.

Pricing lands at approximately EUR 7,980, placing it above the standard steel Black Bay Chrono models but still comfortably below many competing luxury sports chronographs using exotic materials. Considering the carbon construction, in house movement credentials and limited production, it feels positioned to attract both motorsport fans and collectors wanting something more distinctive from the Tudor catalogue.

The Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 26” will not be for everyone. Purists may still prefer the cleaner, more restrained steel versions. But for those wanting a modern Tudor with genuine wrist presence and a stronger connection to contemporary racing culture, this might just be one of the brand’s most interesting releases in years.
