Abinger Watches Unveils The PHANTOM: A Tactical Evolution Of The NIMROD

British independent watchmaker Abinger Watches has officially announced the PHANTOM, a bold new addition to its growing collection of purpose built tool watches. Building on the proven foundations of the NIMROD, the PHANTOM introduces a stealth inspired design, enhanced functionality and UK assembly, creating a compelling option for collectors seeking a rugged everyday mechanical watch with genuine military character.

Designed to thrive in demanding environments, the PHANTOM retains the compact proportions and practical ergonomics that made the NIMROD a favourite among enthusiasts, while introducing an all new sand blasted black DLC coated case, a highly legible 12 hour bezel for tracking a second time zone, and exceptional low light visibility thanks to extensive use of Swiss Super LumiNova C3.

Available in two distinct versions, the PHANTOM allows owners to choose between contrasting approaches to tactical design.

The LUNA features a fully lumed C3 dial that appears as a clean cream white face in daylight before transforming into a vivid emerald glow after dark, offering instant readability in the most challenging conditions.

The NOX, meanwhile, embraces a more covert aesthetic with a deep matte black dial complemented by raised C3 lume blocks and heavily lumed sword hands, creating a striking geometric display against a stealthy black backdrop.

Speaking about the new release, the Abinger team said:

"With the PHANTOM, we wanted to see how far we could push the utility and raw attitude of the core NIMROD platform. By pairing a stealth, non reflective blacked out chassis with a multi purpose 12 hour bezel and extreme C3 luminous layouts, we've created two distinct expressions of a tactical tool watch that contrast well together, and feel incredibly satisfying on the wrist."

Beyond its distinctive appearance, the PHANTOM is engineered to deliver serious everyday performance. Inside beats the Japanese Miyota 9039 automatic movement, regulated to between minus 10 and plus 15 seconds per day and offering a 42 hour power reserve. The movement is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti reflective coating, while a screw down crown and robust case construction provide 200 metres of water resistance. Completing the package is a custom black FKM rubber strap with matching black DLC hardware.

In a significant milestone for the brand, the PHANTOM will also become the first Abinger model to be assembled in the United Kingdom, allowing the company to strengthen quality control processes while streamlining servicing and aftersales support.

Founded in Malmesbury by Tom, Holly and Zoe, Abinger Watches has quickly built a reputation for producing honest, functional mechanical watches inspired by adventure and designed to withstand everyday wear. The PHANTOM continues that philosophy, combining practical engineering with a refined modern aesthetic aimed squarely at enthusiasts who appreciate purpose driven design.
