Casio’s latest addition to the G-Shock MR-G series, the MRG-B2000JS-1A ‘Juryoku-Maru: San’, is a testament to the brand’s commitment to blending traditional Japanese craftsmanship with modern watchmaking technology. Design: Inspired by the Katana
The MRG-B2000JS-1A’s design pays homage to the traditional Japanese katana. The bezel is crafted from recrystallized titanium, mimicking the distinctive patterns found on a sword’s blade. This unique texture is achieved through a combination of pure and Ti64 titanium layers, subjected to high-temperature and high-pressure treatments. The case is further enhanced with a blue-gray arc ion plating (AIP®️), providing both striking looks and ultra durability.
The dial features a hishimaki-gara pattern, reminiscent of the diamond-shaped wrapping on a katana’s hilt, while the curved indexes evoke the blade’s curvature.

Craftsmanship: A Collaboration of Masters
This watch is the result of a collaboration between master swordsmith Teruhira Kamiyama and traditional lacquer artisan Mamoru Nomura. Kamiyama’s influence is evident in the hand-engraved kanji character 燦 (san), meaning “brilliance,” on the case back of each watch.
Nomura’s expertise is showcased in the aogai-nuri technique applied to the bracelet, where mother-of-pearl inlays create a shimmering effect that changes with the angle of light.
