Hamilton x Death Stranding 2: A Watch That Tells More Than Just Time

Imagine you’re trudging through a post-apocalyptic landscape with a baby in a pod strapped to your chest, and the very fabric of reality is coming apart at the seams. Now ask yourself: What sort of watch would you wear for that?

Hamilton, purveyors of Swiss precision with a cinematic flair, have answered that oddly specific question with the American Classic Boulton Death Stranding 2 Limited Edition. It’s a name that’s a bit of a mouthful, but then again, so is “interdimensional courier service” – and that didn’t stop Kojima Productions, did it?

A Briefcase Full of Backstory

This isn’t Hamilton’s first dance with Hideo Kojima. The original Death Stranding featured a digital Hamilton prop watch that quickly became an object of desire among horology nerds and gamers alike. Now, with Death Stranding 2: On the Beach on the horizon, Hamilton’s gone one step further – they’ve made it real. And limited to just 3,000 pieces globally. Thousands of PS5 fans have just wet themselves!

Let’s just say this: it’s the kind of watch that makes your Fitbit look like a children's toy.

Design: Retro Meets Dystopia

At first glance, the watch is pure vintage charm. Based on the American Classic Boulton model that dates back to the 1940s, with its soft rectangular case, curved edges, and Art Deco stylings. If Poirot wore a digital screen, this would be it.

But look a little closer and you’ll see it’s had a sci-fi makeover. Nestled into the dial is a hybrid digital display, inspired by Sam Bridges’ wrist gadget in the game. This little beauty has a titanium case with PVD black coating making it light and tough.

The black-tone dial features a single orange numeral at 12 o’clock and then a splash of orange on the second had. All VERY cool. With the bracelet following suit, this really is one to behold.

Final Thoughts: A Beautifully Bonkers Mashup

The Hamilton Boulton DS2 is one of those rare collaborations that doesn’t feel forced. It’s stylish, wearable, and nerdy in all the right places. Stylish, niche, and proudly strange – just how we like it. Points docked slightly for the price-to-function ratio, but redeemed by sheer originality and impeccable design. We love this thing!

Final Score: 9/10
