Loresum LS06 “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” Limited Edition — A Horological Tribute to an Artistic Icon

British watchmaker Loresum has unveiled its most ambitious limited edition to date: the LS06 “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” Limited Edition. This timepiece transforms Katsushika Hokusai’s legendary woodblock print into a wearable masterpiece, celebrating the enduring power of art and the craft of mechanical watchmaking.

At its core, this watch is a dialogue between East and West. The dial captures the dynamic scene from Hokusai’s iconic image, the crashing wave, the distant Mount Fuji, and that dramatic sky, all rendered with extraordinary attention to detail. More than an illustration, it is a tribute to how this print influenced the Japonisme movement and inspired generations of Western artists, from Monet to Van Gogh.

The LS06 Limited Edition runs to just 200 individually numbered pieces and is now open for pre‑order, with deliveries scheduled by the end of February 2026.

Design and Craftsmanship

True to Loresum’s vintage‑inspired ethos, the LS06 features a smooth, 1970s‑inspired ellipse case in IP gold plated stainless steel. The choice of this shape enhances the classical aura of the dial artwork while keeping the watch refined on the wrist.

At the heart of this limited edition is the HZ5000a automatic movement with a micro‑rotor. This historically significant movement type was a symbol of high horology in the 1970s. It allows for a slim case profile without compromising on the convenience of automatic winding. The movement is finished with heat‑blued screws, a subtle nod to traditional watchmaking aesthetics.

Dauphine hands and diamond‑cut indices lend classic elegance and ensure clarity against the intricate dial. A sapphire crystal with anti‑reflective coating protects the dial, while an exhibition case back lets wearers admire the micro‑rotor movement in action. The watch is rated to 30 metres water resistance and comes paired with a premium black leather strap crafted using vegetable‑tanned leather, which develops a rich patina over time.

An Artistic Statement on the Wrist

In an era where many limited editions simply add colour or branding, the LS06 “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” goes further. It honours a pivotal moment in art history and bridges centuries of artistic innovation with mechanical ingenuity. For collectors who appreciate narrative, craftsmanship, and visual impact, this Loresum release stands apart.

Whether you are drawn to the historical resonance of the artwork or the refined mechanics beneath the surface, this timepiece offers a compelling blend of art and horology — a story worn on the wrist.
