The £35 Watch That's Getting People Talking: Meet the DWC Terra

Every now and then a watch appears that completely disrupts expectations. It might not come from Switzerland, Japan, or Germany. It might not house a mechanical movement. It certainly doesn't cost four figures. Yet somehow, it becomes one of the most talked about releases in the enthusiast community.

Enter the DWC Terra.

Created by Indian microbrand Delhi Watch Company to celebrate its fifth anniversary, the Terra has quickly become one of the most surprising releases of the year. With a retail price of just ₹3,999, roughly £35, the Terra sold out almost instantly and generated the kind of organic buzz that many established brands would envy.

So what exactly makes a £35 watch so interesting?

A Design Unlike Anything Else

The first thing that grabs your attention is the case. Inspired by a climbing carabiner, the Terra abandons traditional lugs in favour of an integrated slot system that allows the strap to pass directly through the case. The result is a watch that feels more like a piece of everyday carry equipment than a conventional field watch.

It's an unusual look, but one that works remarkably well. The angular case shape, military inspired dial and industrial finishing create a distinctive aesthetic that stands apart from the endless stream of vintage inspired homages currently flooding the market.

In a hobby where originality is often difficult to find, the Terra genuinely feels fresh.

Titanium For The Price Of A Takeaway

The headline feature is undoubtedly the case material.

While many affordable watches rely on stainless steel, the Terra uses Grade 2 titanium. That alone would be noteworthy at several times the asking price, yet Delhi Watch Company somehow managed to deliver it for less than £40.

The lightweight titanium construction helps give the watch a tool watch character while also making it exceptionally comfortable on the wrist. Rather than applying extensive finishing, DWC chose to embrace the raw industrial appearance of the material, adding further character to the overall package.

Simple, Practical And Purposeful

Powering the watch is a Miyota GL32 quartz movement, a sensible choice that keeps costs low while maintaining reliability. The dial remains clean and highly legible, featuring bold Arabic numerals, syringe hands and vintage style Japanese lume.

The watch measures 32mm wide and 44mm long, with a slim 9.6mm profile. Despite the unconventional dimensions, early wear impressions suggest it wears comfortably thanks to the integrated strap system and lightweight construction.

Adding to the uniqueness is the use of SCHOTT glass rather than traditional mineral crystal or sapphire. It's another unexpected detail in a watch already full of surprises.

Why Everyone Is Talking About It

The Terra's success isn't simply about value.

Watch enthusiasts regularly encounter inexpensive watches. What they don't often see is a brand willing to take genuine design risks at this price point. Rather than producing another derivative dive watch or field watch, Delhi Watch Company created something entirely its own.

The watch reportedly sold out within minutes of launch, with collectors around the world taking notice of the unusual design and almost unbelievable specification sheet.

In many ways, the Terra represents what makes the modern microbrand scene so exciting. It proves that creativity doesn't have to come with a luxury price tag.

Winding Things Up

The DWC Terra isn't perfect. The water resistance is modest, the movement is basic and the design certainly won't appeal to everyone.

But that's missing the point. For roughly the cost of a family takeaway, Delhi Watch Company has produced one of the most original watches of the year. It's bold, unconventional, lightweight, made from titanium and refreshingly different from almost everything else on the market.

At a time when many brands seem content to play it safe, the Terra reminds us that great watch design doesn't need to be expensive. Sometimes, all it takes is a £35 watch and a genuinely good idea.

Unsurprisingly the watch is sold out but sign up on their site and you can hopefully grab a bargain later this month!

Terra Stainless Steel will be live on 22nd June at 6pm. Terra Titanium Automatic with Miyota 9039 will be coming in December 2026/January 2027.
