The Marloe SkySplitter Airway Is A Proper GMT Tool Watch With Cockpit DNA
British independent watchmaker Marloe has never been shy about doing things differently, and its latest release might just be the brand's most ambitious effort yet. Meet the SkySplitter Airway, a purpose built GMT that blends aviation inspired design with genuine traveller friendly functionality, all while landing at a price point that feels almost suspiciously reasonable.
Inspired by the instrumentation, atmosphere, and functional clarity of modern aircraft cockpits, the SkySplitter isn't another pilot watch dressed up with a few aviation clichés. Instead, Marloe has created something that feels genuinely original. The multi layered dial takes cues from altimeters and flight instruments, while a clever colour matched handset creates a floating effect that keeps the luminous tips front and centre. The result is a watch that looks busy at first glance but reveals impressive legibility once you spend a few moments with it.
At the heart of the SkySplitter Airway is the Miyota 9075 automatic movement, one of the most compelling GMT calibres currently available. More importantly, it's a true GMT, meaning the local hour hand can be adjusted independently when crossing time zones. For frequent travellers, that's the sort of feature usually reserved for watches carrying considerably larger price tags.
The watch is housed inside Marloe's bespoke Aero case, measuring a highly wearable 40mm across and 12.45mm thick. A screw down crown, anti magnetic protection, sapphire crystal with anti reflective coating, and 200 metres of water resistance ensure the SkySplitter is more than capable of handling life beyond the airport lounge.
Visually, the Airway colourway is arguably the standout of the collection. The textured grey dial is punctuated by vibrant yellow markers and a dual tone day night GMT scale, creating a look that feels technical, contemporary, and unmistakably aviation inspired without ever becoming gimmicky. It's exactly the sort of design language we've come to expect from Marloe: distinctive enough to stand apart, restrained enough to wear every day.
Limited to just 250 numbered examples for the launch edition, the SkySplitter Airway arrives on either a leather strap or bracelet and is assembled in house by the Marloe team in Sonning Common. At £599, it represents one of the more compelling GMT propositions currently available from an independent British brand.
